A prehistoric dolmen on Ganghwa Island, west of Seoul. It is believed that these were used as burial tombs for tribal chiefs, thousands of years ago. The stones were probably dragged up temporary earthen ramps, using ropes & logs, & the earth later removed. These 'dolmen' also occur in Western Europe where they are known as 'Hunebedden' eg.

Surprisingly, Korea is said to contain 40% of all the worlds dolmens. They date from around 3,000 years ago.
